On Monday, November 16, 2020 I went to Castlewood Canyon State Park, a beautiful, 100,000+ years old canyon in the middle of a prairie about 40 miles southeast of Denver. This information from the Park explains it much better than I can summarize.
One very important part of the canyon’s history is the failure of the 70 feet tall dam built in 1890. This is a link to the story:

There are two entrances to the Park, the Main entrance on the East and a satellite entrance on the West with many Trail choices.
