MyShadowProductions #29 - A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

Hi everyone, Happy February!!

I have been thinking about the title of this post for sometime and have been writing about it on Word. With this Post I am sharing it for thoughts, comments, contributions, etc..... :))

A PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS

I like this saying and I actually depend on it when I publish a post on my blog, MyShadowProductions.

I realize the thousand words is not meant to be interpreted literally but I wondered how many words would describe a photo. This of course will vary due to the photo’s complexity, simplicity, color or black and white and so on.

I have chosen the following photo and will attempt to describe the photo with sentences as if I were talking and then sum the words to see the total.

§  An AMTRAK train is loading passengers at a Train Station.

§  The Train Station is located in the Mountains.

§  Adjacent to and running parallel with the railroad tracks is a River and then a divided Highway.

§  There are two sets of tracks.

§  There are more than twenty people lined up in pairs getting ready to board the train.

§  The train has eight or nine double decker cars and one or two Engines??

§  There is a set of yellow stairs set by the loading door at two of the train cars.

§  Adjacent to the divided highway is a parking lot and several buildings.

§  There are more than twenty vehicles parked in the parking lot.

§  There are three cars traveling on the divided highway and they have their lights on and the pavement appears to be wet.

§  The mountains have evergreen and other types of tree growth that have a coating of snow.

§  The buildings in view have snow on their roofs and there is snow on the ground but the roadways and sidewalk areas are wet.

§  The river is fairly wide and is flowing freely with no ice.

§  The majority of the trees along the banks of the River and on a street to the right of the Train Station do not have any leaves but a couple look like they have not lost their dead leaves yet.

§  There are a few vehicles parked right next to the Train Station and along the street that is on the right side of the Train Station.

§  This street is mostly hidden by trees but is visible.

§  There is a five story building in the background behind the Train Station, it appears to be a hotel or apartments?

§  It is a cloudy day and appears to be mid to late afternoon.

§  The passengers boarding the train have luggage and are wearing coats.

§  The Train Station has two short pointed steeples made from red brick with at least three windows and a railing towards the top.

§  There are two lights on the rear of the train.

§  There is a small area enclosed with a fence near the train station that has a short concrete retaining wall and a small grass area with a few trees.

§  Right of this grass area and the station there is also a wide brick sidewalk.

§  There is also an iron fence section visible along with a light post and several more light posts in the background following the curved pavement along the tracks for loading and unloading passengers.

§  On the highway there are a couple of yellow and black caution signs for “curve”.

§  Left of the river and divided highway in background there is a faint view of “steam” from a hot springs pool?

§  The buildings left of the divided highway near the parking lot are also red colored to some extent.

§  In the background and left of the divided highway there are several “poles” of different height along the slope of the mountain, possibly for control of snow slide?

§ .....................

The total so far is +/- 620........

Please let me know your thoughts!
