MyShadowProductions #35 - Day Trip #10 - Denver to Golden

Golden, the home of COORS Beer, is an easy day trip from Denver on the RTD 16 bus.

The 16 bus starts at Colfax and Broadway in Denver and goes all the way to Downtown Golden.

A large part of the bus ride is on West Colfax Avenue. Colfax in it’s entirety is one of the longest continuous streets in the USA.

The bus ride can be a Day Trip of it’s own, if you are so inclined. The ride can be gritty, eye opening, sad, bumpy, loud, quiet, enlightening, well timed and just about any other human emotion you might think of.

Here is a little history of Golden:

I hope you enjoy the following movie/video created from my photos in Golden and along the Clear Creek Trail:

By the way, MyShadow says “HI” from second base area of the local ball diamond :)

I tried lunch from El Callejon Latin Food. I ordered the special for the day, Colombian Plate.
It consisted of morcilla, arepas and black beans, including a chipotle sauce and a red salsa.

It was good but if I had googled morcilla before ordering, I might have changed my mind :)

Morcilla is a Spanish blood sausage with rice mixed in.

Arepas are made from ground corn and are sprinkled with cheese.

Black beans are just that.

Here is my latest attempt at a Foodie photo:

The temperature today was approaching 70 but tomorrow the predicted high is 34 with snow :)
Just in case you were wondering.

MyShadowProductions #34 - Surprise Street Art on Decatur St

Trying to do my part for the environment :), I took an old laptop, printer, cell phones and cables to Blue Star Recyclers on Decatur Street, west of Downtown Denver, in the Sun Valley neighborhood.

The area is very convenient by bus from Downtown on the RTD 15, 16 or 9 buses. The business is very cool to me because they employ people with disAbilities. To visit their website Click Here.

While walking the short distance from the bus stop to Blue Star I passed Fairview Elementary School. Sadly there was no activity at the school!!! :(

A pleasant surprise though was the Art on the vintage School building and spread around the campus and adjoining area.

Here is a movie/video from my photos, Sports fans watch closely for the Broncos Empower Field at Mile High Stadium:

Interesting (?) side note, Decatur is a city close to my hometown of Springfield, IL and there was a Fairview School and Fairview Park (played Pony League baseball there) in Springfield.

My favorite photos of the day:

See the Flagpole shadow?

Usually a good thing to do, as long as it isn’t getting involved in somebody else’s business :))

MyShadowProductions #33 - Winter Storm

Happy Pi Day, 3.14

Well, I believe the entire world knows that Denver and most of Colorado east of the Continental Divide is experiencing a very substantial winter storm this Daylight Savings Time weekend.

Mostly melting snow all day Saturday here in Denver but late Saturday night and all day Sunday the wet snow and wind have been steady and intense.

Blizzard warning noon until midnight Sunday. I didn’t do a good job “photographing” the wind but it was there!! :)

Yes, I walked in it, over a mile, just like I used to for grade school back in Springfield, IL during the 1960’s :) ???

I even brought, by accident, a little snow back to the apartment :) Also got the carpet wet, sorry about that.

Here are a few of the forecast models:

Denver Downtown and North Capitol Hill (my neighborhood) ended up with 16-17” and Denver International Airport had a little over 27”.

Something the world doesn’t know is that I made some BOB Soup :))
Beans, Onion and Bacon Soup!

No shadows today for the MyShadow aficionados, not even a LuckyDog, maybe tomorrow??

The last slide in the movie/video was copied from the internet and is a piece of Digital Art that just sold for $69 million, click here to read about it.

Here are a few collages showing changes:

Well, the sun is out today as expected, beautiful day, just keep a heads up, or down :), for snow falling from the branches!

Fingers crossed for a safe walk :) Have a great week!

MyShadowProductions #32 - Day Trip #9 - Denver to Boulder

Happy Thursday and welcome to March!!

Today is one of those rare cloudy days with a little drizzle in Denver, yesterday was sunny and temperatures in the 60’s for a Spring tease which included a volunteer shift pruning perennials (Rabbitbush and Blue Fescue) at the Denver Botanic Gardens and a sign of the times, COVID-19 vaccine 1 of 2.

Sorry, both very exciting activities but I didn’t take photos :)

Tuesday was also sunny and warm and perfect for a day trip to Boulder via the RTD bus Flatiron Flyer (FF1).

Didn’t know you were going to get weather reports did you?

My day in Boulder included walking along the Pearl Street Mall and continuing west on Pearl Street to Settlers Park and Eben G. Fine Park, and a Gyro sandwich at Falafel!

Spring has sprung on Pearl Street Mall:

I have walked west along Pearl Street a few times but this was the first time I ventured into Settlers  Park and enjoyed the Red Rocks Trail which is steep, slippery, rocky (imagine that), fairly short but BEAUTIFUL!!

Here are a few photos looking back from the trail towards Boulder:

Also, the trail along Boulder Creek is always interesting and I love the mixture of snow and ice and water. Are those terms redundant or just different forms of the same thing?

It was nice to see that the area was fully open and the fencing that limited access was removed.

As usual, there were several “campers” here and there.

Here are a few movie/videos from the days’ photos:

Here is the welcome sign and the information plaque that is posted in Settlers  Park.

It has some history that might be useful when taking the MyShadowProductions First Anniversary Pop Quiz, coming soon!?

You think I am kidding?? Probably, maybe, why not, we will have to wait and see :

Here is a photo of the nice little Falafel Restaurant and my Gyro sandwich. My foodie photos need a lot of work. There is a generous amount of gyro meat under the toppings :)

Well, time to put this Post to bed and Publish it, have a great weekend!
